Reg is a 25 year old civil engineer working for Halcrow in Leeds. He has taken 6 months unpaid leave to make this trip. Reg first sailed in the Hebrides when he was 9 months old. He is joint owner of Piper and has been dreaming of this trip for a long time.

Name: Steven Burdett

Steve is joint owner of Piper and initially thought up the idea for this trip. He is a 24 year old civil engineer working on coasts and rivers for Royal Haskoning from their Newcastle office.


Steve is an experienced climber having rock climbed through the UK as well as climbed in the Alps and Europe.

A great provider of energy, music, cakes, beer and enthusiasm. Tom was the first intrepid adventurer to accompany us on our Journey. Tom did a lap of Mull with us including a trip to Coll.

Name: Claire Salter

Claire has been with us on various legs of our Journey and despite deserting us to do trivial things like graduate she has provided much entertainment. Her expert limmerick skills and constant enthusiasm go some way to making up for the lack of baked goods.

Name: Matthew Donaghey

With his inflatable canoe Matt got to experience some wild weather, night sailing and ceilidh dancing during the week he spent with us. Matt impressed us with his abilities to invite himself (and us) to join a table of american backpacker girls in the pub.

Name: Cas Ladha

Cas provided us with our GPS tracker and other custom electonics. When he is not being a genius cas becomes a hunter gatherer - providing us with lots of fish and attempting to catch us a lobster when he spent a few days sailing with us on the East coast of Skye.

Pete made the long journey out to Stornoway to meet us but we still didn't the find the blonde Norweigan telemarker who owned a castle and liked knitting. Hope you have more luck in France!!

Henry ticks his second sea

Name: Henry Crosby

Henry was up for an adventure and certainly lucked out with the weather getting a ton of climbing in while he was with us. He was aboard from for a couple of weeks and travelled from Ullapool around Cape Wrath to the Kyle of Tongue before an epic journey home by foot-bus-bus-train-train-etc
